Online poker players in the US suffered another blow last night as two businesses were shutdown and three people were arrested following charges of conducting illegal gambling business and money laundering. The indictment by the federal grand jury seized 10 domain names, which included two prominent online poker sites: truepoker.com and doylesroom.com. Fears that more online poker sites operating in America would be seized have been growing since Full Tilt, PokerStars and Absolute were shutdown a month ago. Indeed, the biggest indicator that more trouble was on its way was Doyle Brunson stepping down from his position at doylesroom.com. The move certainly raised some eyebrows in the industry and it now seems it may have been prompted by certain suspicions.

Widespread panic is now setting in amongst the American online poker community as many fear the remaining operational sites in the country will soon fall victim to the government. Itís not yet clear whether any action will take place but that hasnít stopped players wanting to withdraw their money at the first opportunity.

Indeed, it certainly seems that the US government werenít simply looking to remove the three biggest players from the market. What this means for the future of the online game is uncertain, but thereís no doubt that at this moment in time virtually every American online player is wishing they were somewhere else in the world.
