This creates a virtuous circle where the service is always being improved and customer loyalty is continually increasing.
What has been the company’s biggest breakthrough in 2009?
We have integrated a new service offering operator reviews for Sportsbetting, Casino, Poker and Bingo. This widens our service to cover the main gaming channels in greater depth and also improves the user education experience.
We have enjoyed major successes with Britain’s Got Talent and the X-Factor, proving the increasing appeal of our service to new punters with varying tastes and interests. This is testament to the improvements we have made this year in creating an even more welcoming environment for all users - from first time bettors through to betting aficionados.
What has been the biggest hurdle you’ve had to overcome?
We went through a very challenging period in April when the site was hit by malicious activity, which prove the biggest test we had faced in our history. I was incredibly proud of the way the team rallied together to rapidly restore normal levels of service. I also made every effort to interact openly and honestly with our members and the volume of support we received from them was overwhelming.
As much as you can disclose, what milestones are you striving for in 2010?
The increased diversity of our growing user base has presented an interesting challenge for us. Where a first time punter on X-Factor may want simplicity and lots of betting guidance, an experienced horseracing punter will want in-depth information and minimal explanation. As such, we have been developing the service to allow users to make their own choices and in 2010 we will increase the ‘personalisation’ of our service. With each user able to hone their experience, we will be able to continue offering an unparalleled service to a wider audience than ever before.
In a hugely competitive industry, how is it that you’ve continued to stay ahead of your rivals in the past 12 months?
There is stiff competition in this area and we very much respect our rival sites, which is why it is a source of immense pride for me and for the team here that we have won this title for the second year in row. I believe that we continue to stay ahead of rivals because easyodds is not just a site - it is a service and there is a genuine bond between the company and its customers. This was best shown when we experienced malicious activity earlier this year and, rather than criticising us, our users supported us and traffic reached record levels within one week of normal service resuming.
