Antonio Esfandiari Leads WPT LA CLASSIC
Day 2 of the WPT LA Poker Classic came to an end yesterday with some magic from Antonio Esfandiari propelling the American to the top of the chip leaders.
167 players remain going into Day 3 with ‘The Magician’ sitting pretty on 405,000. Esfandiari was on a hot streak throughout the day, at one point sitting with twice the number of chips as anyone else in the field.
Close behind Antonio is Kofi Farkye with 391,000 who nearly doubled up late in the day when fellow big stack Kevin "BelowAbove" Saul picked the wrong time for a big bluff. Saul four-bet pre-flop, and then three-bet all-in after a flop of K-10-6. Kofi called with K-J for top pair, and Saul showed a total bluff with 8-5. Both players had nearly 200,000 at that point, and Kofi covered Saul by just 1,200. Saul went home while Kofi headed to Day 3 in second place.
French wonder Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, who’s been on something of a roll of late, is still in the chase and the smart money will surely be on the Frenchman catching up during Day 3.
