Casino chip scam costs more than $100,000
Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa has lost over $100,000 in a counterfeit chip scam over the past 2 weeks.
So far one man has been arrested linked to the scam after a cashier noticed that some $100 chips were slightly thicker than others and would fit into storage properly. The investigation is still underway since the alert was raised.
There have been several attempts to use counterfeit chips in a casino but most have been with poor replicas and easily spotted before any money could be gained. In this case the copies had been exceptionally well made.
The casino has stated that they are co-operating fully and said there has been no other indication that other casino had been targeted by the counterfeiters.
