Good Times for Marc Goodwin
Marc Goodwin, one of the UK’s best poker players, has come out on top of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour's power-ranking leader board and, as a result, and clinched the illustrious title of Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Player of the Year.
He surpassed long-time frontrunner Nik Persaud after leg 9 in Blackpool last November where he won a side event and secured two other final-table finishes.
But he wasn’t through yet. He then pulled out in front even more with two second-place finishes and a third at the grand final festival at the Vic, also in November.
When the dust settled, he finished the year having amassed a whopping 369 points. In second place was leg 2 winner Jeff Kimber, who also won a further side event at the leg 8 stop in Thanet and finished runner up in the £1,000 side event at the final at the Vic.
Sam Trickett’s win in the £300 at the Vic secured a third-place berth while Persaud, saw his commanding lead get whittled down to fourth place and 230 points.
Marc received his trophy last Thursday, just before the start of the GUKPT Champion of Champions tournament.
Goodwin put another stake in his 2008 GUKPT claim a third-place finish and an additional £10,000 in the exclusive Champions event.
