Online gambling sites Absolute Poker and UltimateBet have announced plans to join forces in launching Cereus, a network that will bring together players and features from both networks. UltimateBet and Absolute Poker are the eighth and eleventh busiest online poker sites respectively. Once combined Cereus will become the third largest online poker network in the world.
Peter Legett, chief operations officer of both Absolute Poker and UltimateBet said, “I’m confident that Absolute Poker and UltimateBet customers will be thrilled by the new platform and we look forward to welcoming many new players from around the world.
Cereus has been under development for over a year and is expected to launch in August. Leggett said, “Our company’s goal is to provide poker players with the ultimate online experience. The launch of Cereus is a major step for us in achieving our goal and we look forward to making many more exciting announcements very soon”.
Absolute Poker and UltimateBet are both owned by Tokwiro Enterprises which has been the centre of an online poker scandal involving a security breach. An internal investigation was launched and determined the breach was limited to previous employees of the company.
