Online gambling site’s billionth hand
One of the net’s biggest online entertainment venues, Bodog Entertainment, has made a massive splash with their online gambling, sportsbook, music, TV, and ultimate fighting championships. Now, the site has again made the news as it has dealt its billionth hand.
On Sunday night on Bodog Poker, nine players from nine US states were online when the momentous hand was laid down. The players split a $10,000 prize. In addition, the players were each awarded $109 in tournament buy-ins.
Bodog founder Calvin Ayre called the milestone a "landmark event" on his personal blog and congratulated the winners as well as "all the people who work so hard to make Bodog the best poker room there is." This is another sure sign that Bodog is fast becoming the go-to site for all online gaming needs.
As part of the promotion leading to the billionth hand, Bodog started on the 1st November 2007, with hand 980,000,000, it awarded increasing money prizes for every five-millionth hand dealt. Players involved in these milestone hands also received $109 in tournament credits for use towards any Bodog tournament.
In addition, Bodog held a daily drawing from Nov. 5 to Nov. 26 with 10 players winning $50 each daily. Starting Nov. 5, once a player earned 100 Poker Points he was awarded an entry into the daily drawings for the rest of the promotion. Now that the billionth hand has been dealt, Bodog will select a grand prizewinner to receive $12,000, paid out in the form of a $1,000 monthly bankroll for one full year.
