Arsenal vs. Liverpool
On Sunday 27th Liverpool take on Arsenal at Anfield. Liverpool are coming off the back of a 6-3 aggregate win over 1899 Hoffenheim to take them into the Champions League group stages Klopp’s men will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the premier league season against an Arsenal team that lost to Stoke last week at the Bet365. Star player Coutihnio should return to the starting 11 despite being subject to a rumoured fourth bid from Barcelona. The Brazillian submitted a transfer request two weeks ago but Liverpool have maintained that he will not be leaving the club.
Unlike Liverpool, Arsenal face being out of Europe’s top competition for the first time in 21 years. The North London outfit will beLi hoping that the absence of elite competition can help their push for the title. They will also be hoping to cause an upset by beating Liverpool at home, a place that Klopp said that no opposing team wants to come.
Arsenal are likely to welcome back star player Alexis Sanzhez, but more important might be the return of centre-back Laurent Koscielny. The Frenchman is regarded as one of the best defenders in the league, and his presence is likely to help an Arsenal team that is yet to keep a clean sheet in the league. The reintroduction of Alexis Sanchez is also likely to calm the pressure on Mesut Ozil. The german faced heavy criticism after the loss to Stoke as players and fans questioned his dedication. Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown claimed that Ozil was “the most frustrating player I’ve seen wear an Arsenal shirt” and branded him an “expensive luxury”.
Having not been beaten in their last six matches, including preseason, Liverpool are the favourites to secure three points. Ladbrookes, Coral and Betfair all offer odds of 11/10 for Klopp’s men to continue their winning start to the season. A Gunners’ victory is rated at 13/5 by William Hill and BETVICTOR.
With both sides showing problems defensively, and both still being linked with Southampton’s towering Centre-back Virgil Van-dyk, most bookmakers believe that both teams will score. Bet365 and BWIN both offer odds of 1/2 on no team keeping a clean sheet.
