Stoke City vs Arsenal
On Saturday Arsenal will look to continue their winning start to the new Premier League season by taking on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium. The Potters often cause trouble for Arsenal and there is little love-loss between the two teams, since Aaron Ramsey had his leg broken by Ryan Shawcross in 2010.
Arsenal will face Stoke without their talisman Alexis Sanchez, who is still recovering from an abdominal injury. He is expected to return for the Gunners next game against Liverpool. They will also be without Laurent Koscielny who is serving the last of a three game ban. However, Wenger confirmed that team captain Per Mertesacker should return. The German suffered a horrific gash against Chelsea in Arsenal’s Charity Shield win be back in the squad along with fellow absentee Shkodran Mustafi.
Stoke on the other hand will be looking to record their first win of the season. The Potters lost 1-0 to a Wayne Rooney goal at Goodson Park on the first weekend of the season. Stoke have made a habit of signing players whose careers have waned and reinventing them, and they will be hoping to do that again as they introduce new sighing Jesse Rodriguez to the Premier League. The former Real Madrid forward has signed on a season long loan from PSG and will be looking to make a quick impact on his debut in one of Stoke’s fiercest rivalries. Rogriguez will join former Bayern Munich player Xherdan Shaqiri and new signing from Chelsea Kurt "Everyone is excited to see him play. He is an elite player, a top-level player and you don't get too many opportunities to bring players like him to the club, so when you do you should enjoy it.”
Arsenal have won four of their last five games against Stoke, and many bookmakers have made them odds on favourites to get three points again. Betfair and Coral have recorded an Arsenal victory at 5/6. Bwin and BETBRIGHT give odds of a Stoke victory at 7/2. Arsenal’s new signing Alexandre Lacazette is odds on favourites to score first. Ladbrookes and William Hill have given him odds of 10/3.
