Premier league season round-up
With the Premier League approaching its final 90 minutes, the only thing left up in the air is whether Hull City or Newcastle United face relegation to the Championship, but most season long bets will have been settled.
Chelsea to win the league cashed in on the 3rd of May as Jose Mourinho’s side bossed proceedings, while newly promoted sides Queens Park Rangers and Burnley returned straight to the Championship a year after securing promotion.
The Premier League Golden Boot is something which is more or less settled too, as Sergio Aguero leads surprise package Harry Kane by five goals going into the final round of fixtures, so barring an incredible performance from the England international, the Golden Boot will be heading to Aguero.
Also, bets on Manchester United to reclaim a position in the top four would have been winners too, as Louis van Gaal’s side did so with ease in the end after an indifferent start, as they will finish at worst some four points ahead of Liverpool.
Anyone that was brave enough to back Leicester City to stay up before a ball was kicked would also be delighted, as Nigel Pearson’s men pulled off arguably the greatest of Premier League escapes in the sense they were bottom at Christmas yet secured survival with a game to spare.
The last space is looking likely to be filled by Hull City, as they are two points below Newcastle and with Manchester United to face at home, the omens don’t look great. However, if they can pull this off and Newcastle fail to beat West Ham, Hull will survive on goal difference or by a point depending on whether the Toon draw with the Hammers, or claim their first victory since February.
