Stoke’s “Hairy Potter” named Titan Bet Ultimate Fan
A Stoke City fan has been awarded tickets to three cup finals after being titled Britain’s Ultimate Fan by operator Titan Bet.
Sean Ruane, a 49-year-old from Stockton Brook, will be attending the UEFA Europa League Final at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw on Wednesday 27 May, before making his way to the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in London, which will be contested between Arsenal and Aston Villa, three days later.
The prize will be rounded off with a trip to the UEFA Champions League Final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Saturday 6 June.
Titan Bet set out to find the country’s most passionate supporter earlier this year and applications were made by hundreds of supporters in the form of videos and blogs, explaining why they should be given the prize.
Sean, who will be able to enjoy luxury travel and accommodation as part of the trips, follows his team home and away and holds the nickname Hairy Potter, which was given to him by Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.
Sean said: “Before my brother passed away a few years back we used to go as a group to every game possible.
“He was a huge part of it, so I decided to buy five season tickets, even though there are now only four of us, and offer the last one to someone I really want at the match. Stoke has always been about family and community as a club.”
Titan Bet spokesman Russell Yershon said: “Our Ultimate Fan competition caught the imagination of football fans up and down the country, but ultimately there can be only one winner.
“Sean’s video entry was superb and it’s wonderful to be able to give a bit back to the fans who turn up week in week out to get behind their team.”
