New mobile site to settle friendly bets

Digital agency Collective London has launched a tool to help punters record spur-of-the-moment bets.

Unveiled in time for the World Cup, The Gentleman’s Agreement is a mobile-first site which can be used to document any type of wager, thus making people accountable for their promises and helping to resolve domestic disputes.

Users logging in to enter their wager into a virtual ledger before tagging their friends into the bet via Facebook.

The social network then generates a post declaring to the punter’s online friends that the bet is on, with another results message created once the wager has finished.

The new site is being promoted via NFC-enabled beer mats distributed throughout the Rileys Haymarket sports bar in London.

Collective London design director Stephen Barnes said: “Although it started life as a fun agency project, we soon realised The Gentlemen’s Agreement would have a wide appeal and the end result should help smooth over those inevitable ‘bet gone bad’ moments that will rear their ugly heads during the World Cup.”
