Premier League betting: All over for Liverpool?
With just eleven minutes left of normal time last night, Liverpool were 3-0 up against Crystal Palace and around 3/1 to win their first league title in 24 years.
Fifteen minutes later, Luis Suarez was in tears and they were out at 8/1 with bookmakers Bet365 after three goals and an unlikely comeback from the South London team.
Is the title race now over? The Merseysiders’ manager Brendan Rogers has said it is, but in a campaign with this many twists and turns, it's not over until it's over.
Manchester City's odds of regaining the title they lost last year shortened yesterday from 2/9 to 1/14 with Bet365. They are currently one point behind Liverpool with a game in hand and a massively superior goal difference. Therefore they only really need four points from their remaining two games which are at home against two lowly claret-and-blue sides: Aston Villa and West Ham.
If they lose either of these games then a Liverpool win at home to Newcastle on Sunday would see the Anfield side crowned champions and spark huge celebrations on Merseyside.
Chelsea are not mathmatically out of the title race yet either and are priced at 150/1 with Bet365. If Liverpool lose their last game and Manchester City pick up just one point or fewer from their remaining two matches then a Chelsea win against Cardiff will result in a surprising title for the Blues.
