England World Cup Qualifiers betting preview
England head into the latest round of World Cup qualifying knowing that only two wins will do if they want a realistic shot automatic qualification from the group. Whilst Moldova on Saturday should be an uncomplicated win, away to the Ukraine on Tuesday night ranks as one of the toughest ties that England could face in qualification.
As you would expect, Roy Hodgson’s men are huge favourites to dispatch Moldova at Wembley this Friday at 1/20. Any other result would act as a catalyst for a wave doom-mongering and criticism we seem to periodically reserve for the national team. For the record Moldova are 28/1 for the win, with a draw priced at 12/1. With Wayne Rooney ruled out of the tie, the mantle of favourite for first goal scorer lies with Daniel Sturridge at 9/3. Jermaine Defoe and Danny Welbeck are just behind, at 4/1.
Tuesday night is a different matter altogether. England still come in at 5/4 to pick up a vital win but Ukraine, understandably are favoured much more highly to do some damage to the Three Lions. They are priced at 2/1 for the win, with the draw at 12/5.
