$590m Powerball jackpot won in Florida
A single ticket has won a $590m Powerball lottery jackpot.
Purchased at a supermarket in Zephyrhills near Tampa in Florida, the ticket matched five numbers and the Powerball on Saturday night to scoop the estimated $590.5m prize, the largest jackpot in the draw’s history.
The winner has not yet been identified publically and it is not known if they have even come forward to collect their prize.
The winning numbers were 10–13–14–22–52 with a Powerball of 11.
The chances of winning the top prize were 1 in 175.2m, with lottery officials estimating that about 80% of all possible number combinations had been purchased ahead of the draw.
Over seven-and-a-half million tickets won a prize in the draw, including the two tickets that scooped $2m each, one of which was purchased in New York and the other in South Carolina.
A total of 33 tickets won $1m each across 17 states, including six tickets sold in New York.
Nearly $84m worth of non-jackpot prizes were won in the draw.
The largest jackpot ever was the $656m won on the Mega Millions draw in March 2012.
The next Powerball lottery draw takes place on Wednesday 22nd May.
