Murray Grand Slam not enough to wobble Wiggins in Sports Personality contest
He may have secured a memorable US Open success in New York last night but Andy Murray remains second favourite in the betting for this year’s Sports Personality of the Year Award.
The Scot is now offered at a best price of 5/2, according to odds comparison website Oddschecker, after he added the Flushing Meadows title to his Olympic gold medal triumph, but is still behind cyclist Bradley Wiggins in the Sports Personality market.
London 2012 gold medallist and Tour de France winner Wiggins is available at a top price of 5/4 to receive the Award, while athlete Mo Farah, a double gold winner this summer, is third in the betting at best odds of 3/1.
Yet another Olympic gold recipient, heptathlete Jessica Ennis, is next on the list at 12/1, ahead of Paralympian double gold winner David Weir at 25/1.
The winner of the Award will be announced in December.
