Bwin unveiled as Man Utd betting partners

Bwin are the new official online gaming and betting partners of Manchester United.

The online operators have agreed an initial three-year deal with the Premier League giants which sees them assume the role previously held by betting exchange Betfair.

The sponsorship package will see the Bwin brand integrated into the Man Utd website and the club’s Old Trafford stadium, while the firm will be given access to United players for marketing campaigns.

Both parties will also come together for the creation of a co-branded social gaming product.

The deal was officially unveiled at an Old Trafford press conference on Thursday afternoon, attended by United manager Alex Ferguson and players Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney.

Norbert Teufelberger, co-CEO of Bwin parent company Bwin.Party, said: “Manchester United is one of the biggest names in world sport with a global fan base running into hundreds of millions. We share a passion for football that has always been at the heart of our long term brand development strategy.”

Manchester United commercial director Richard Arnold added: “Bwin has an established and reputable reputation in online gaming in Europe and Manchester United is pleased to be bringing that model to not only the 75,000 football fans who visit Old Trafford each week, but also our huge global audience.

Speaking at the press conference, Alex Ferguson commented: “The partnership is a good fit – Bwin with ‘be winners’”.

To celebrate the link up Bwin are offering fans the chance to win two season tickets for the upcoming 2012/13 season, while 20 signed United shirts and 20 free £100 bets are also on offer.

To have a chance of winning one of the prizes fans need to wager £5 on any Manchester United-related bet from an existing or new Bwin account.
