UK players win £148m lottery jackpot
A couple from Suffolk have won the UK’s second biggest lottery prize of all time.
Adrian Bayford, 41, and wife Gillian, 40, of Havervill, scooped £148,656,000 in Friday night’s multiple rollover draw. The winners were unveiled at the Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire on Tuesday morning.
The jackpot is bettered only by the £161m won by Ayrshire couple Colin and Chris Weir in July 2011.
The winning numbers were 11, 17, 21, 48, and 50, with lucky stars of 9 and 10.
Seven Euromillions jackpots have been won so far in the UK in 2012.
Mrs Bayford said of her win: "I checked the numbers on my phone, the TV, the internet - and we just looked at each other and giggled."
A UK millionaire was also created in the National Lottery’s Millionaire Raffle Selection game on the same night, the winning code for which was JDW 016965.
