Bolt backed to beat Blake in 100m final
World record holder Usain Bolt remains favourite to claim Olympic 100m gold in London this summer, although the odds of his nearest rival Yohan Blake have been shortening over the past 12 months.
Research by odds comparison website Oddschecker reveals that back on 16 August 2011 Jamaican Bolt was available at a best price of 8/13 for Olympic glory, with compatriot Blake trailing far behind at best odds of 20/1.
Following victory in the World Championships in September last year, 22-year-old Blake was cut to 8/1, with Bolt drifting slightly to 4/6.
Blake then came in further to 2/1 this July following his registering of a personal best while defeating Bolt in the Jamaican Olympic trials, with the reigning Olympic champion moving to 4/11.
By 19 July Bolt was being offered at 4/5, with Blake available at 7/4, a price at which he later remained despite Bolt’s slight shortening into 8/11.
The latest Oddschecker odds have favourite Bolt offered at a best price of 8/11, with Blake available at best odds of 13/8.
