Bookies offer odds on British gold rush
Great Britain are most likely to win between 22 and 24 gold medals at the London 2012 Olympics, according to odds compiled by a leading UK bookmaker.
Ladbrokes are offering a price of 3/1 on Team GB securing either 22, 23 or 24 golds at this summer’s games, slightly shorter than the 10/3 available on a return of 19-21 first-place finishes.
Odds are offered on all results from 10-12 golds, available at 25/1, to 31-33 golds, listed at 10/1, while the best and worst case scenarios are also covered, with under 10 golds priced at 66/1 and over 33 golds offered at 25/1.
Bookmakers Coral believe that women’s double scull pair Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins represent Britain’s best chance of a gold medal, pricing the rowers at 1/4 for a prime podium position, just ahead of the women’s track cycling pursuit team at 1/3 and Rebecca Adlington in the women’s 800m freestyle at 1/2.
