Euro 2012 betting preview: France v England

England take on France this afternoon in their opening Euro 2012 fixture.

The Three Lions are underdogs for the Group D game, which is expected to be their toughest match of the first round.

New national boss Roy Hodgson looks set to pair Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck up front against the French, with James Milner and Stewart Downing deployed on the wings. Joleon Lescott is expected to partner John Terry in central defence.

Online betting exchange Betfair make France 13/8 favourites for the match, with England offered at 9/4. The draw is priced at 85/40.

France striker Karim Benzema is 13/2 favourite to score the first goal, followed by teammate Franck Ribery at 11/1. England strikers Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck are also offered at 11/1.

A 0-0 draw is priced at 6/1, with the same odds on offer for a 1-1 draw and 1-0 French win. A 1-0 England victory is available at 7/1.
