Co-Hosts Poland All Set To Get Euro 2012 Underway
Football fans across Europe will no doubt be on tenterhooks ahead of the start of Euro 2012 this evening, but none will be anticipating the opening ceremony more than those of Poland, who will see their team kick of the tournament against Greece at 5.00pm.
The match will take place in Warsaw’s National Stadium and will see the co-hosts afforded the perfect platform on which to build a solid Euro 2012 campaign and demonstrate to the world just how far they’ve come in footballing terms in the past couple of years.
Certainly key to their chances will be the Bundesliga-winning Borussia Dortmund trio of Lukasz Piszczek, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Robert Lewandowski, with the latter’s goals certain to play a crucial part of Poland are to successfully navigate their way out of Group A.
Following that game, the remaining two teams in the group, Russia and the Czech Republic begin their campaign in Wroclaw’s Municipal Stadium at 7.45pm knowing exactly what they’ll need to do to top the group after the first round of games at Europe’s most prestigious competition.
With the two games providing the perfect appetiser for what should be an incredible month of football – especially the mouth-watering ties of Germany v Portugal and Spain v Italy this weekend – it’s time to stock the fridge, lock the door and secure yourself a place on the sofa for the foreseeable future.
