Betfred pay out on Man United as champions
Bookmakers Betfred are already paying out on Manchester United winning this season’s Premier League title.
The campaign still has seven games to go but the company’s United-supporting owner Fred Done believes the Red Devils’ five-point lead over Manchester City is unassailable.
Betfred have form in this area, having paid out early on United winning the 1997/98 title when Sir Alex Ferguson’s team were 12 points clear at the summit, although on that occasion the move cost the firm £500,000 as the Old Trafford side’s lead was overturned by Arsenal.
Done said: "Fergie told me to never pay out early again but he need not worry, I've not got it wrong this time, United are past the post for a 20th title."
Betfred actually have City down as 7/4 favourites for next season’s title however, with United offered as 9/4 second favourites. Chelsea come next in the betting at 9/2, followed by Arsenal at 7/1.
