Premier League betting preview: Blackburn v Manchester United

Blackburn host Manchester United in the Premier League tonight with the two sides requiring points for very different reasons.

Seventeenth-place Rovers will be hoping to put daylight between themselves and the bottom three by at least avoiding defeat, while United could extend their lead at the top of the table to as much as five points. Blackburn’s only injury doubt is defender Gael Givet who has been suffering with a hamstring problem.

United will be without injured quintet Nani, Anderson, Michael Owen, Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher, although defender Rio Ferdinand has recovered from a recent back problem.

Bet365 make United 2/5 favourites for the match, with Blackburn offered at 7/1. The draw is available at 15/4.

United forward Wayne Rooney is 13/5 favourite to score the first goal, with fellow frontman Javier Hernandez offered at 15/4. Strike trio Owen, Danny Welbeck and Dimitar Berbatov are all available at 9/2, while the shortest-priced Blackburn player is forward Yakubu at 17/2.
