Kent man wins big from £3 bet
A lucky horse racing punter has turned £2.90 into over £19,000 as the result of a successful four-fold accumulator bet.
The man, revealed only as Mr T from Sevenoaks in Kent, scooped £19,532.23 from a £1.45 wager on four horses running at Wolverhampton on 9 February.
Betting on the coral.co.uk website, Mr T backed Flying Applause in the 2:25 at 6/1, Muhandis in the 3:00 at 8/1, Copper Canyon in the 4:05 at 12/1, and Lisselton Cross in the 5:40 at 6/1. However the odds on Muhandis and Copper Canyon were enhanced to 12/1 and 20/1 respectively as part of Coral’s Best Price Guarantee offer, which sees customers who back a horse at its early price or board price paid out at the starting price if the latter offers greater odds.
Mr T’s returns represented over 6735 times his original outlay, and his overall winnings were 2.3 times larger than the £8,383.35 he would have won without the extra money generated by the Best Price Guarantee.
