Welsh winner collects EuroMillions cash

A Wales-based lottery winner has finally claimed their £1m prize.

The player won the money on the 27 December EuroMillions draw but didn’t come forward straightaway, and was last week encouraged to come and claim their cash by National Lottery organisers.

The winner, who purchased the lucky ticket in Neath Port Talbot, has thus far elected to remain anonymous.

A National Lottery spokesman said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win – it’s certainly a great way to start 2012.”

Meanwhile another reticent Wales-based winner is still being sought.

A lucky player who bought their ticket in Cardiff on 23 December has yet to claim their £1m prize.

If the money is not collected by a set deadline then the cash – plus all the interest it has accumulated – will go to good causes.

A National Lottery spokesman said: “We’re desperate to find this mystery ticket holder and unite them with their winnings – this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life.”
