FA Cup Second Round betting preview with Blue Square

Will Chrimes brings you round-by-round betting previews of this season’s FA Cup with Blue Square.

The second round of the FA Cup kicks off Friday evening with the Blue Square Premier’s Fleetwood Town welcoming League One’s Yeovil to Highbury Stadium. At this stage of the competition, teams know they could be just 90 minutes away from reaching the coveted third round where the top sides in the country enter the draw.

The Cod Army beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in their previous FA Cup outing with a fine performance, which will have given manager Micky Mellon all the belief that his side can beat another League One club.

The hosts will come into the clash in high spirits following a 3-0 league victory over Kettering as they maintained their three point lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier. Tuesday’s win was their fifth in six league games, so Yeovil can expect a tough afternoon.

Terry Skiverton’s side are 22nd in League One and have conceded ten times in their previous six away league games. In contrast, the Cod Army have conceded five in as many home fixtures and are the league’s top goalscorers. Against a fragile Yeovil outfit, Fleetwood have more than enough to claim their second major scalp of the competition.

Wrexham are also flying high in the Blue Square Premier and they travel to London where they take on Brentford.

The Dragons beat Cambridge United in a replay to progress to the second round but another victory here looks a step too far. A draw is certainly attainable given the Bees have lost four of their past six home league games and I wouldn’t put anyone off taking the 11/4 available with Blue Square for a replay.

Best bet at Blue Square:
Back Fleetwood to beat Yeovil @ 13/10
Back Brentford and Wrexham to draw @ 11/4
