Premier League betting preview: Tottenham v Aston Villa

21/11/2011
Tottenham host Aston Villa tonight in Monday’s sole Premier League fixture.

Spurs sit fifth in the table on 22 points, although they have two games in hand on all of the sides above them. Victory over Villa would lift them to third place.

Manager Harry Redknapp should return to the touchline following minor heart surgery, while Rafael van der Vaart is expected to be fit for the match following a hamstring problem. Defender Vedran Corluka should also be available after an ankle injury, although Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson remain sidelined.

Aston Villa are eighth in the league with 15 points from 11 games, although they have a game in hand on a number of clubs around them.

Forward Gabriel Agbonlahor is back in training after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty with England, while captain Stiliyan Petrov is in contention following a similar problem. On-loan Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas is ineligible to play against his parent club. Bet365 make Tottenham 1/2 favourites for the match, with Villa priced at 11/2. The draw is offered at 10/3. Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor is 15/4 favourite to score the first goal, followed by teammates van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe at 9/2. The shortest-priced Villa player is Darren Bent at 15/2.
