England among second seeds for Euro 2012 draw
England have been placed in the second group of seeds ahead of the Euro 2012 finals draw.
World and European champions Spain are in the top pot, along with the Netherlands and joint hosts Poland and Ukraine. Fabio Capello’s men are joined in the second group by Italy, Russia and unbeaten qualifiers Germany.
Pot three consists of Croatia, Portugal, Sweden and Euro 2004 champions Greece, while the fourth and final group is made up of the Republic of Ireland, Denmark, Czech Republic and Euro 2000 winners France.
The seedings were calculated using a combination of a nation’s Euro 2012 qualifying record, their performance in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, and their performance at World Cup 2010/Euro 2008.
The draw for the finals takes place on 2nd December. Bet 365 make Spain the 5/2 favourites to win Euro 2012, followed by Germany at 3/1. Next in the betting come 13/2 shots Holland, ahead of England at 10/1 and Italy at 12/1. The Republic of Ireland are 66/1 joint-eleventh favourites for the tournament.
