England set for Sweden shuffle
England manager Fabio Capello says he will make eight changes to his side for tonight’s friendly with Sweden.
Despite the team’s 1-0 win over world and European champions Spain on Saturday, Capello remains keen to experiment with his starting line-up.
Midfielder Jack Rodwell and defender Kyle Walker are set to make their first international starts, with striker Daniel Sturridge expected to begin on the bench.
Centre backs John Terry and Gary Cahill should be involved, although fellow stopper Phil Jagielka has left the squad as a result of an ongoing toe injury. Goalkeeper Scott Carson could also feature in what would be his first England appearance for three years.
“They are two different games but the experience gained for these players is really important, in order to improve for the next match against Holland or for the Euros,” said Capello of the Spain and Sweden clashes.
Bet365 make England 8/11 favourites for the match, with Sweden offered at 4/1. The draw is priced at 5/2.
England striker Darren Bent is 5/1 favourite to open the scoring, followed by fellow forwards Bobby Zamora and Daniel Sturridge at 6/1.
