LA Galaxy reach MLS final ahead of potential Beckham departure
David Beckham helped LA Galaxy reach the MLS Cup final amid continuing speculation about his future at the club. The 36-year-old, who has been linked with a move away from the franchise at the end of the current US season, created one of his side’s goals in a 3-1 Western Conference championship win over Real Salt Lake, a victory that sees them through to the final against Houston Dynamo on 20 November.
The Houston game could be Beckham’s last for Galaxy, although the man himself refused to be drawn on rumours of a move as the end of his five-year contract approaches.
“I'm a Galaxy player right now. I'm 36 years old and I still enjoy soccer," he said. "Right now we're focused on the Cup. We don't want to get too carried away."
Bookmakers Paddy Power are offering odds on Beckham’s club after the January transfer window, with French club Paris Saint-Germain the 4/7 favourites, followed by LA Galaxy at 5/4. Premier League side Tottenham come next in the betting at 12/1.
