Lottery win claimed after five weeks
A Scottish couple who won over £280,000 on the EuroMillions have finally claimed their prize after five weeks.
Angela and John Sutherland of Wick in Caithness won the money back in June but waited until John returned from working on an offshore oil and gas platform before coming forward. John had gone away to work on the day of the draw. The National Lottery had made public appeals for the holders of the winning ticket to claim their cash.
The couple say they will use their £282,940.50 winnings to pay off their mortgage, go on holiday and buy a purple mini.
"I kept the ticket locked away in a safe, but kept going back to check the numbers again and again to make sure it was real,” said Angela.
"I told close friends and family, but it was only when John arrived back on shore it really sunk in we'd won. We were thrilled."
