Bodog Brand Flees US Kennel
Following recent developments that have seen Bodog UK granted a regional gambling license by the UK Gambling Commission, the brand has now announced that it will be pulling out of the troubled US market.
Bodog’s UK CEO, Patrik Selin, had last week spoke of how he believes having a UK license will add trust and credibility to Bodog’s operations – operations that have already expanded in Asia through the Bodog88 arm of their business.
In light of this, the decision was made that Bodog would pull out of the US market to escape the potential negative connotations of working in such an uncertain legal climate and instead focus on building their brand elsewhere throughout the world.
This means that as of the end of 2011, no American players will be able to access bodog.eu or any other Bodog branded website, though the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, Bodog’s licensing partner, will be launching their own US-based site in 2012.
As such, American players with money invested in Bodog sites will not have to fear for their funds and will be given the option to transfer their existing balance over to the new MMGG site should they so wish, where apparently business will run as usual.
