Arsenal centre back search continues after Jagielka rejection
Arsenal have had a £10 million bid for Everton defender Phil Jagielka rejected by the Merseyside club.
The Gunners are in the market for a new centre back but had their offer for the England man knocked back, with Everton rating the defender at nearer £20 million. It is understood that Arsenal had a £12 million bid for the same player rejected last summer.
Bookmakers Victor Chandler are offering odds of 7/2 that Arsenal do stump up the cash and sign the former Sheffield United man before the end of the summer transfer window.
With regard to other transfer targets, Blackburn defender Christopher Samba is priced at 1/4 to make the switch to the Emirates before the end of August, with Bolton man Gary Cahill available at 1/3. Birmingham stopper Scott Dann has also been linked with Arsene Wenger’s side and is 2/1 to make the move to North London before the window closes.
