Sunderland close in on defensive duo
Manchester United defenders John O’Shea and Wes Brown are having medicals at Sunderland this week with a view to making permanent switches to the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats had a £12 million bid accepted by United in June for O’Shea, Brown and their midfield teammate Darron Gibson, and it now looks likely that at least two of the three transfers will be completed soon. Brown had his medical on Wednesday, while O’Shea’s is set to take place sometime on Thursday.
Sunderland are 7/1 outsiders with Bet365 for their opening Premier League fixture away to Liverpool, with the Reds offered at 4/11 and the draw priced at 10/3.
The Wearsiders are 2500/1 with Bet365 to win the Premier League next season while a price of 10/1 is available on them being relegated. Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan is 66/1 with Coral to be the league’s top goalscorer.
Victor Chandler are also offering a special Steve Bruce market, with the former centre back priced at 2/7 to still be in charge of the club on the final day of the season, while 5/2 is offered on him having left by that time.
