Barcelona To Use Arsenal’s Training Facilities Ahead of CL Final
Arsenal have extended the use of their state-of-the-art training facilities to Spanish champions Barcelona ahead of their Champions League final clash with Manchester United on Saturday evening.
The Catalans had their preparation disrupted earlier this week when another volcanic ash cloud forced them to leave for the English capital ahead of schedule, meaning that they missed out on two planned training sessions.
However, fortunately for Pep Guardiola’s men, United’s bitter rivals have stepped in to let them use their Hertfordshire-based training facilities, allowing Barcelona to continue with their planned preparation from Thursday onwards.
The decision is a surprising gesture of goodwill from the North London club given that Barcelona have continually been linked with a move for their Spanish captain and talisman, Cesc Fabregas, but hopefully it will improve relations between the clubs.
Arsenal and Barcelona last crossed paths in the Champions League knockout rounds earlier this season, with Barcelona triumphing 4-3 on aggregate after a commanding performance in the Nou Camp saw them overturn the Gunners 2-1 Emirates victory.
United and Barcelona, meanwhile, will be contesting a repeat of the 2009 Champions League final in which the Spanish Champions ran out comfortable 2-0 winners thanks to a ninth minute Samuel Eto’o goal and Lionel Messi’s brilliant second-half header.
