Vince Vaughn, Bruce Willis and Catherine Zeta-Jones cast in gambling film
A new gambling movie is to feature a host of big Hollywood names.
Vince Vaughn, Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rebecca Hall have all been cast in Lay the Favorite, a film based on the memoirs of former professional gambler Beth Raymer.
The drama – directed by Stephen Frears – follows Raymer as she reassesses her life after becoming deeply involved in the world of sports betting.
Hall is to play Raymer while Willis will be her mentor. Zeta-Jones will portray Willis’s wife, with Vaughn cast as the bookmaker who employed Raymer.
The book on which the film is based – also called Lay the Favorite – was published in 2010. In an interview with website Publishers Weekly, Raymer said: “In the end, one of the things I like about my book is that it’s an adventure story with a female protagonist. I wanted to take the reader on a strange, thrilling, funny adventure.”
