Jack Wilshere seeks U-21 inclusion
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere wants to represent the England Under-21 side at this year’s European Championships.
The 19-year-old has been a key figure for the Gunners this term and has also featured for the full national side, meaning he is set to make over 50 appearances this campaign before the Euros even start. This has led to suggestions he should rest over the summer rather than play in the tournament, but the man himself says he wants to feature.
"It can only be good for my career,” he said. "If you look at the Germans, when they won the under-21 tournament they went to the World Cup and had such a good tournament. It's important to start winning international tournaments early and hopefully you can take it to the world stage."
Bookmakers Sky Bet make England 7/2 second-favourites to win the competition, with a price of 9/4 available on them winning their group. Bwin are offering 13/18 on the English to qualify from the group.
