England v Ghana betting preview
England are set to make multiple changes for their friendly against Ghana on Tuesday night.
Having seen his side comfortably dispose of Wales in Saturday’s Euro 2012 qualifier, manager Fabio Capello has released John Terry, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney and Michael Dawson back to their clubs, suggesting wholesale changes are in prospect for the contest with the Black Stars. Uncapped Wolves winger Matt Jarvis will be one of the players hoping to feature.
Terry’s departure – combined with the absences of Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand through injury – means the England captaincy saga will be reignited. It appears likely that Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry will be the latest player to be granted ownership of the armband.
Bet365 make England 8/13 favourites to defeat Ghana, with their African opponents priced at 9/2. The draw is offered at 11/4. Darren Bent and Jermain Defoe are 5/1 join-favourites to open the scoring.
