Praz Bansi Scores Top Praz at GUKPT London
London-based pro Praz Bansi – winner of the inaugural GUKPT event in Bolton back in 2007 – bookended the achievement by becoming the winner of the tour’s latest stop in London this weekend.
Bansi defeated Germany’s Manig Loeser heads-up after flopping the nut straight against the aggressive pro’s top pair, with no miraculous outdraw ensuring that he picked up the first prize of £101,020.
Bansi was one of two members of poker’s Hit Squad on the final table as friend and fellow degenerate Karl Mahrenholz also joined the final nine alongside the also recognisable Jeff Kimber, Jamie Roberts and Ken Wong.
The glittering finale was a fitting end to an event that had attracted pretty much the crème de la crème of UK poker with Luke Schwartz, Sam Trickett, Toby Lewis, Jake Cody and James Sudworth all among the combined days’ starting line-ups.
Also joining them was WPT Poker editor Jon Young, who made a mockery of being sat on a tough table alongside Schwartz, John Eames, Rob Sherwood and latterly the Devilfish to cash in his first ever GUKPT main event after finishing 23rd for £3,680.
