Bookies offer Binocular refund
Bookmakers are queuing up to refund ante-post bets on Binocular after the Nicky Henderson horse was withdrawn from the Champion Hurdle.
The seven-year-old defending champion will not run in the Cheltenham Festival contest after testing positive for a legal substance following treatment for an allergy, leaving punters who backed the market leader out of pocket, as ante-post bets are generally not returned if a horse doesn’t actually start the race. Many firms are offering refunds in this particular instance however, including William Hill, Stan James, Paddy Power, Sky Bet and Betfred.
Betfred boss Fred Done said of the situation: “I have punters who backed the horse just after he won last year's Champion Hurdle, and because of the manner of its withdrawal it only seems right to give punters their money back.”
Bet365 make Menorah the new favourite for the race at 3/1, followed by Peddlers Cross at 10/3. Hurricane Fly completes the top three at 4/1.
