FA Cup Draws All-Manchester Semi-Final
Having booked their place in the semi-finals of this season’s FA Cup with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the weekend, Manchester United fans face an even more explosive tie against bitter rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils saw off Arsene Wenger’s men thanks to the clinical finishing of Fabio Da Silva and Wayne Rooney, despite the Gunners dominating large portions of the game, to enter the semi-final draw as favourites in the competition.
Playing the following day, Manchester City were already aware of the potential powder keg of a semi-final draw as they took on Reading, but despite the added incentive they made hard work of the clash as Micah Richards scored the only goal.
City, who are looking to secure their first silverware since the 1976 League Cup, will certainly be relishing the chance to prove that the gap between the two Manchester teams has closed this season and manager Roberto Mancini is already eyeing victory.
"We have played two games against Manchester United this season and played very well.” The City boss explained “We have a good chance to get through to the final as I think that Manchester City is now very close to Manchester United.”
In the Cup’s other semi-final, Bolton will face Stoke after the two teams progressed against Birmingham and West Ham respectively. Both semi-final ties will be played at Wembley Stadium over the weekend of 16/17 April.
