The fate of US online gambling announced this week
It’s been an ongoing battle, but it looks like the fate of online gambling in the American state of New Jersey will be determined by the end of this week. Whilst the decision of Governor Chris Christie is still undecided, it appears that some additional states are getting ready to accept regulated online gambling. Florida is allegedly on the brink of partially legalising online gambling, supposedly starting with poker, whilst Virginia may go in the opposite direction and prohibit it all together.
Online poker is rumoured to be authorised in Florida as early as 1 July 2011 as the legislators are attempting to fill the budget deficit of $4billion. The state representative Joseph Abruzzo has submitted the bill, and commented: “We want to authorize it, regulate it and deliver the profit to Florida. To me it is making sense to protect our players. The bill is going to be discussed in the next session of the state congress that is going to begin on 8th of this month.”
