Erik Seidel secures LAPC High Roller title
Erik Seidel has overtaken Phil Ivey in the all-time tournament money list as he continues his staggering start to the year.
The legendary pro took down LA Poker Classic's $25K High Roller event for $144,570, taking his total winnings for 2011 to $3.5 million. The American has already won the Aussie Millions High Roller event as well as picking up big scores in the Aussie Millions $100K and the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure.
The LAPC High Roller tournament attracted a tough field of 18 players, including top French player Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier. Seidel was actually short-stacked for a fair while but came out on top in a big hand against Grospellier and fellow American Darren Elias when play was three-handed to put himself in pole position.
Reacting to his latest success, Seidel said: "This is a once in a life deal, truly unbelievable. You have to be running really well to have a streak like this. It was a great field-and no easy task to come out on top."
