American Idol winner odds announced
Before the judges whittled the contestants down to the final 24, punters had the chance to bet on more obscure, and sometimes even downright hilarious markets, often involving the behaviour of the judges. But now that the competition is getting more serious, the betting markets are following.
American Idol winners have seldom been outright favourites; last season’s winner Lee DeWyze had steady odds of 12/1 throughout the majority of the competition, with odds only improving in the final shows.
Although the bookies have released the odds on the final 24, betting will not officially commence until the final 12 are announced.
Early favourites, which are presumably contestants bookies are fairly certain will make it into the final 12, are Lauren Alaina, who has odds of 7/1, followed by Paul McDonald at 8/1 and Casey Abrams at 9/1. Lauren Turner, Haley Reinhart, Jovany Barreto, Karen Rodriguez and Ashton Jones are all at 25/1; the current outsiders are Tanynisa Wilson and Jordan Dorsey who currently stand at 40/1, with Rachel Zevita even further behind at 50/1.
The odds for the contestants are very diverse as far as the current favourites and outsiders go, but as American Idol history has shown, anything can happen.
