Katy Perry favourite for UK X Factor
News on the grapevine is that Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole are opting out of the UK X Factor to focus on the stateside show, leaving two of the hottest seats on national television in desperate need of filling. Rumours have been rife with who their replacements will be, therefore making bookies pile on the odds for some of the most likely and even less likely contenders.
Katy Perry was popular this side of the pond when she was a guest judge on the last series; although the official US line-up hasn’t been confirmed, it doesn’t look like she has made the cut for their starting panel, which means there’s a good chance the UK’s version may have snapped her up.
William Hill have made Mrs Russell Brand their current favourite at 7/2 that she will replace either Cowell or Cole, or even become a fifth panellist.
A William Hill spokesperson said: "Katy Perry was very well liked when she appeared on last year's show and the odds suggest that she is in pole position to either take over from a departing judge or become a fifth judge on the show."
Former X Factor judge Sharon Osborne and Gary Barlow are also potential replacements, and both have odds of 4/1.
