Gus Hansen continues $2.5 million upswing against Rui Cao
Hansen has been in excellent form this year and it continued with another big win on Monday.
Rui Cao, also known as ‘PepperoniF’, lost against Hansen for an eye-watering $424,000 dollars, in a session that lasted only 113 hands. The pair engaged over $500/$100 Pot limit Omaha on Full tilt Poker a few nights ago, and in just a few minutes, Hansen had already taken $348,000 from Cao, who plays from his home town, Paris.
2011 seems to be a good year for Gus Hansen so far, statistics show that he is currently showing profits of well over $2 million dollars on Full Tilt, and that’s only counting the PLO games.
It seems he has put 2010 behind him for now, which certainly wasn’t his best year. During the summer of 2010, he managed a downswing of $3.5 million. He regularly spewed thousands of chips on the tables, to the extent that high stakes players on Full Tilt were queuing up to play him. Whenever he sat down at a table on Full Tilt, a considerable waiting list would form – mostly of players who wanted a piece of his stack.
Since then however, he has earned nearly $6 million from online play. Hansen seems to have found his game again, so time will tell if he can sustain it.
Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, had a pretty good night too, winning $103,000 to follow up his victory over Katchalov in the PokerStars SuperStar Showdown series. That win was much more drawn out than Hansen’s however, taking 6,300 hands to book that profit. Blom appears to be breaking even this years, after a downswing to start 2011.
Other winners included URnotINdanger2 (+$29k), NoPasaran(+$49k) and Zypherin (+$50k).
