Bookies open markets for the other Kate wedding
2011 seems to be the year famous Kates will marry. Kate Middleton will obviously be walking down the aisle later this year when she marries Prince William on 29 April, but supermodel Kate Moss is also set to get married this year to rocker Jamie Hince.
As with most high profile weddings, bookies have already started opening markets for the occasion. There is a variety of different markets to bet on, including the designer of the wedding dress, and some more unusual ones, such as how much the media will pay for their wedding photos. Ladbrokes are offering odds of 4/6 that the press will pay more than £1.5 million for the rights to the wedding; they are also offering odds on the designer of her dress, with Vivienne Westwood currently the favourite at 4/1. Westwood is closely followed by John Galliano and Chanel, who both stand at 5/1, and Vera Wang at 10/1.
Some comparative markets have also been opened, where the two Kate weddings will go head to head. For example, there are odds of 4/6 that Middleton’s wedding ring will be more expensive than the supermodel’s, 3/5 that Moss’s dress will be pricier, and even 1/5 that Kate Moss will drink more champagne than her royal counterpart.
Paddy Power is also getting in on the action, and have opened a market surrounding the guest list; they have offered odds of 1/100 that Naomi Campbell and Sadie Frost will be in attendance of Moss’s big day, with Beth Ditto at 1/12 and Sienna Miller at 6/1. There are even odds of 25/1 that Moss will attend the royal wedding, and 33/1 that Middleton will return the favour.
