Roy Hodgson named as West Brom boss
Roy Hodgson has been appointed head coach of West Brom.
The former Fulham boss left previous club Liverpool in early January after a difficult spell at Anfield and has been chosen as the man to keep the Baggies in the Premier League.
Former Newcastle boss Chris Hugton had been the front-runner for the position with betting even being suspended on the former Irish international at one point, but talks between him and the club seemingly broke down, with some suggesting that problems over a potential bonus for avoiding relegation were the issue. Hodgson had been as long as 10/1 to be given the position following previous West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo’s sacking.
Di Matteo was placed on gardening leave earlier this month following a bad run of form that culminated in a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City, although the club had been as high as fourth in the league earlier in the season.
