Couple get second chance at Lotto jackpot
A couple have been given a second chance at National Lottery Euro Millions victory, after missing out on an £8.5 million jackpot in the past. Sue and Lee Mullen couldn’t afford a ticket when their numbers came up six years ago, so stopped playing altogether, believing they were jinxed.
Lee Mullen said, "we used to do the lottery religiously with the same numbers but about six years ago we missed a week because we spent the Pound for the ticket on nappies for our young daughter. We were totally gutted and couldn't face doing it again.”
They are now the proud winners of a £4.8 million jackpot after resuming playing only a few weeks ago. The couple, who live on benefits and a veterans’ pension, said they were worrying about bill payment every single day, after using a lot of heating to get them through the cold winter.
The win couldn’t have come at a better time for the couple, and Sue Mullen said, "I checked the numbers online on Saturday and just couldn't believe it. I refreshed the page with the results on so many times I broke a button on my laptop."
The Mullens plan to take their six children to Disneyland, as well as to buy a new house and car, but insist they will still be looking for bargains.
